For someone like me who is undertaking their first engine rebuild I'd definitely suggest something more in depth. I was hoping for a more current version of Tom Monroe's "How To Rebuild Your Small-Block Ford" which gives really detailed instructions for a first timer where this book reads more like a magazine article for someone who is familiar with the process. Also, for someone who is rebuilding a 351w, there are not as clear instructions for the differences, specifically torque values. It feels as though the author wanted to write "How to Rebuild a Performance Small-Block Ford" a lot of the time and if that is what you're going for this is a really solid resource. I definitely enjoyed the read but I wish it lived up to its title a bit more.

Very good book for general "how to rebuild" project. A bit light on details. Would recommend having the Ford service manual that covers your SPECIFIC engine, so you have easy access to all the specs for the motor. There have been many, many changes to the small block Ford motor over the years, as the author points out. A great guide on doing your project.

If you have rebuilt an engine of any kind you don't need this book. Does have useful specs in it but those are available on line.

About the Author
Ernst Haas was born in Vienna in 1921, and took up photography after the war. His early Austrian work on returning prisoners of war brought him to the attention of Life Magazine, but he courageously declined a job as staff photographer in order to keep his independence. At the invitation of Robert Capa, Haas joined Magnum in 1949, developing close associations with Capa, Bishof and Cartier-Bresson. He began experimenting with colour, and went on to become the premier colour photographer of the 1950s. In 1962 New York's Museum of Modern Art mounted its first solo exhibition of his colour photography. Haas's books were legion, and one The Creation (1971) sold 350.000 copies. Ernst Haas received the Hasselblad award in 1986, the year of his death.
