Alas, he's lost his edge and finds himself spooked by everything from local bullies to lawnmowers. Luckily, he's joined by a helpful, attractive female sidekick, Millie, who knows her way around the challenges of Twolegplace. I LOVE this manga! I may be on The New Prophesy: Dawn and just lost GraystripeðŸ˜¢ but I miss him already. He and Millie and the name of manga 3 (Warriors Return) tells me I will be with him on the blank page soon! But the book is a small tear-trip. Sure I am emotional but this makes me a little sad! Seeing how Graystripe was Stolen, seeing how Graystripe and Firestar met in The Prophesies Begin: Into the Wild, seeing Silverstream and Feathertail again. Trust me, if you missed them or thought awww when Firestar met Graystripe, TRUST ME you WILL cry!! A LOT!ðŸ˜¢ðŸ˜¢ðŸ˜¢

My son loves the Warriors books. For a 14 yr old who typically wants a video game over a book, this impresses me. He enjoys the pace and writing in these novels, and the subject matter interests him. He even named a pet after a character in this series.The book arrived quickly and was new, as stated. A great value as well. I now get all of his Warriors books on Amazon.

One of the better investments I've made as a small business owner doing freelance technical design work in the apparel industry. it isn't that this book necessarily has new information for me, but its a great reference when I'm doing spec work on a garment that I haven't done in a while. Its like that checks and balance system to help me ensure that I'm doing the very best job for my clients and haven't overlooked anything. Well organized material, clear format and illustrations.

oh oh ... the only book i found about spec sheets..... and without any class now i know alot about it and feel confident.... a must have for fashion people...

i am an apparel design major and i bought this book for the information on how to properly create a specification manual. it was a great purchase and came in great time. it helps with understanding both the detail of laying out a proper spec manual and how to design a proper technical flat.

Sent to a granddaughter who is beginning to work on fashion design. I used it as a student at FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising) while at school. Has croquois for infants through adult both male and female for using to draw your designs.

A great reference for someone looking to learn more about mass market specifications, proper points of measure, and sizes. Also has sketched bodies to use.

Ordered this for a illustrator class, turns out I didn't need it.Anyhow, the information is good but layout style and pages seems 1960's old.

About the Author

Dennis Sherwood, Managing Director, The Silver Bullet Machine Manufacturing Company,Jon Cooper, Professor of Structural Biology, Division of Medicine, University College London

Dennis Sherwood read Natural Sciences as a scholar at Clare College, Cambridge, and subsequently won a Mellon Fellowship to the Department of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry at Yale University (MPhil), and a Calbiochem Scholarship to the University of California at San Diego (PhD). After a brief period as an ICI Post-doctoral Fellow at the University of Sussex, Dennis changed career, and joined Deloitte Haskins & Sells as a trainee consultant, and where, for 12 years, he was a consulting partner. Dennis was subsequently an Executive Director with Goldman Sachs, a partner in Bossard Consultants, and Managing Director in the UK of SRI Consulting. Dennis now runs his own business, The Silver Bullet Machine Manufacturing Company Limited , which specialises in organizational creativity and innovation. Dennis participates in a number of academic programmes at institutions such as London Business School, the London School of Economics, the University of St Gallen, and London South Bank University.

Jon Cooper is a Professor of Structural Biology at UCL Department of Medicine who specialises in expression and X-ray structure analysis of proteins. Previously he was based in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Southampton where he taught biochemistry and structural biology on undergraduate programmes and at the post-graduate level. He has been working in the protein crystallography field since the mid-1980s when he started a PhD at Birkbeck College London where he later became a post-doctoral fellow and subsequently a lecturer. He is a member of Biological Structures Group of the British Crystallographic Association (BCA) and has been a tutor at the BCA Protein Crystallography Summer School.

For me, I found this book to be one of the most thought provoking books that I have ever read. Mr, Kaplan has placed much thought and most of all research in the field of Al. Basically, he has calculated data and information to explain how this will grow in the future.Each chapter I found meaningful. My favorite chapters were:. Chapter 4 ... The Gods Are Angry. This chapter spoke volumes to me personally because I like to go on the internet and do searches in search engines. Really, until I read this book, I did not give this much thought at all. After I read this chapter, I was shocked to discover the part about synthetic intellects. In fact, this particular chapter, I read twice!. Chapter 8 Take This Job And Automate It - This is a very thought provoking chapter. Mr Kaplan gives excellent examples of how the internet and more are affecting jobs. He gave a great example of attornies...in thus day of going onto the internet and one obtaining a legal form and using it is very true!I also like the fact that the author placed an index in this book. After I read the book, I wanted to go back and look up several subjects.Humans Need Not Apply (hardback version) sample was provided. I agreed to give an unbiased review. In my opinion, I really am happy that I read this book as it is really food for thought. This is a very impressive book and I highly recommend this book.

Jerry Kaplan does for the future what Jared Diamond did for the past: He pulls together our human (or humanoid) fate in sparkling,often hilarious, prose. Kaplan begins by offering the non scientific reader (me) a clear overview of the AI advances that are poised to make human workers obsolete--offering eye popping examples explaining how the pace of technology is destined to overwhelm the human landscape of life and work. He then charts the changes that span FAR more than driverless cars. Mechanical robots (or what Kaplan calls "forged intelligences") will be more adept (and. of course, far more cost effective) than humans at performing every routine job from collecting our garbage to stocking our grocery shelves (and make those physical stores quaint relics of the past). "Synthetic intelligences" (machines that think and analyze information) will outwit humans at making complex diagnoses or writing legal briefs--automating out many of the hapless law school or medical students spending decades accumulating those mountainous student debts .So far readers may be saying " I know all that stuff". Actually, you don't. The real gem of this book is that Kaplan CALCULATES how many people enter the workforce with those mountains of debt and compares their expected salaries. He analyzes the current employment situation for new law school grads and other "knowledge workers". He offers a wealth of data documenting how many jobs are going to be lost... beginning with that prime exemplar (AKA job wrecker), Amazon. I always wanted to know how Amazon evolved, the truth about this behemoth's business model, and how many jobs Amazon has automated out... In this book you will actually get these statistics and much more, as well as learning exactly why those standard government "job growth projection" stats are apt to be totally wrong.In other words, as you read in these other reviews , this book is all about income inequalities and what we can do to in Kaplan's words to slow the transition to making "America the Land of the Pharaohs" ( You ain't seen nothing yet). I've omitted the fact that Kaplan also suggests answers.. that is, he devises highly innovative policy suggestions to make playing field less steep that come closer to attacking the roots of the problem and go well beyond the current mantras such as increasing access to college or raising the minimum wage......

Such books have included Tyler Cowenâ€™s â€œAverage is Overâ€, Eric Brynjolfoson and Andrew McAfeeâ€™s â€œThe Second Machine Age: Work, Progress, and Prosperity in a Time of Brilliant Technologiesâ€, Jaron Lanierâ€™s â€œWho Owns the Future?â€ and Martin Fordâ€™s â€œRise of the Robots: Technology and the Threat of a Jobless Futureâ€. These authors represent a wide variety of fields, from academic economists (Cowen and Brynjolfson), software programmers and engineers (McAfee and Lanier) and financiers involved in angel funding of high tech firms (Ford has a graduate degree in engineering and an MBA and is involved in finding and funding high tech companies with new and innovative technologies). Unfortunately, none of these individuals, simultaneously, have a technical degree, experience â€œcreatingâ€ in the high-tech field and an academic background. Dr Kaplan, the author of â€œHumans Need Not Applyâ€, however does have such a background and this reviewer thought that, for that reason, he may be able to shed a different perspective on the topic or new insights from a different set of angles.Reading the introduction, this reviewer was happy to see that this is the type of book the author himself wrote with the purpose of fulfilling. On p. 16 of the introduction (hardcopy edition), Dr Kaplan writes: â€œ My goal in this book is to equip you with the intellectual tools, ethical foundation, and psychological framework required to successfully navigate these challenges [challenges of seeing how technology will impact employment]â€¦Of course many talented and thoughtful writers have already rung the alarm about the risks of recent technological advancesâ€¦My goal here is to add a different voice to the growing chorus of concern, mine from the perspective of the technology entrepreneur.â€Dr Kaplan then goes about putting forth the argument, very persuasively, that technological advances on many fronts will lead to massive unemployment. For example, self-driving automobiles and trucks will put millions of vehicle drivers out of work and DIDO technology (distributed input, distributed output) will put the installers of internet cables out of work. He believes that this automation will lead to very widespread unemployment and will threaten the livelihoods of the overwhelming majority of the workforce. The proverbial 99% to be more exact. This is the same conclusion reached by every one of the other authors mentioned above.The only disappointing fact in this book is that the discussion of the relevant technologies is not very in-depth. For a much more in-depth analysis this reviewer highly recommends the other books cited above, in particular Fordâ€™s â€œThe Rise of the Robotsâ€ instead. Then again Fordâ€™s book, as most of the other books mentions above, are about double the length of Kaplanâ€™s. Fordâ€™s book for example, is about 370 pages in length (full size text pages) while Kaplanâ€™s is less than half that (about 210 small pages).Dr Kaplan then goes about spelling out a possible â€œsolutionâ€ to this problem. This is two pronged. One involves granting workers a kind of mortgage grant in terms of education spending that will enable them to re-tool. This is analogous to Milton Friedmanâ€™s idea of the govt providing people with educations and, simultaneously, making the payback terms a function of their future income streams. However there are 2 problems here. The first is that technology does not advance so quickly that that workers cannot gain skills quicker than they are rendered obsolete by technology. Secondly, that there are actually positions to train for. Hence this solution is very problematic.The second half of the prong involves granting workers a capital ownership interest in the companies producing the automation. This will provide those workers with dividend incomes that will enable them to survive in a world with massive unemployment. Plus it will not deter their incentives to work (the dividend payments would not be very high) and the incentives for technological progress would not be negated.This sounds nice but does have a number of problems associated with it, unfortunately none of which the author examines. One is that the owners of these companies would have to agree with having their ownership in their own companies seriously diluted. A second problem would be that doing this may so inflate capital ownership that the returns of capital would be significantly curtailed, thus making it difficult for this strategy to provide the unemployed (the overwhelming majority of society) with a sufficient income to to survive on.Thus Dr. Kaplanâ€™s solution seems very weak. Then again so do those of many of the other authors mentioned above to the problem of massive unemployment. For example, Brynjolfson and McAfee, as solutions, recommend massive increases in educational spending and a distribution of income via a more progressive tax regime. Lanier proposes that companies benefiting from the use of individualâ€™s â€œdataâ€ provide those individuals with an income stream for its use (there is no discussion of whether or not this will be enough to provide the unemployment with an income to survive though). Ford proposes the Austian Economist Frederick Hayekâ€™s idea of a â€œminimum incomeâ€ whereby capital owners will be taxed (presumably heavily) in order to distribute income to the unemployed. Of course this implies that the wealthy are willing to do this without a fight or that they do not support a Pinochet of Franco to prevent this very thing from happening. Not something to have great confidence in.In short, the book comes to the same conclusion as many other authors regarding the impact of technology on employment and provides a different â€œsolutionâ€ to the problem albeit this solution has significant problems as do the solutions proposed by the other authors mentioned above. Not a book to inspire much confidence in the future in. Then again the facts seem to be such that a dystopian future lies in the future for much of humanity.

Being that I was experiencing a particularly difficult time in my child's life (or in mine, depending on your perspective) - the so-called terrible twos - I was hoping that this book might have some magic answers. It doesn't. It basically covers the same ground as other parenting books, a combination of, say, Lise Eliot, and the Happiest Toddler on the Block. The suggestions are hard to implement, as acknowledged by the author, when you have been so pushed to the edge by sleeplessness and tantrums so as to have become a toddler yourself.What I did like about the book were the cartoons and pictures, and the fact that it covers all ages and stages, so I can see myself returning to it. However, the techniques were spread across all ages all the time, so it was harder to focus in on what might be appropriate for me and my child at this very moment.Overall, I like the general ideas/principles behind the book, but I'm not sure that it stands out in the field of parenting books based on similar research.

This book is part of the "Brain Balance" predatory pop neuroscience being marketed to overwhelmed parents of challenging children. It was recommended by a child behavioral psychologist who told me she recommends it to all parents, and I'm disappointed that she thinks this book could ever be helpful. I hoped that, after the introduction, there would be practical advice that worked, even if the fake science used to describe it was bunk. Unfortunately not the case. If you wade through the (uncited) fake science, the unprofessional, awkward cartoon illustrations, and the little vignettes of parenting challenges (which are described but unsresolved), you get . . . nothing. This is a slick package without a product inside.I'm also a desperate parent, looking for a lifeline. There's no lifeline here; just lies: page after page of line drawings showing hands and houses to illustrate the crock ideas of "upstairs and downstairs brains" and "left brains and right brains." It's fine to discuss and classify human behaviors and interests using the left/right concept as a metaphor, but don't sell us a miracle cure for a problem that isn't real. Brain "de-integration" is not the cause of challenging childhood behaviors, and while it's nice to think that we could buy a book that fixes our children's brains, it's not that easy.You want the entirety of the book's advice?-When your kid is on the verge of a tantrum, don't try to shut them down with a rational explanation of why they shouldn't be throwing a tantrum. Let them have their feelings, and work from thereThat's it. The entire book. More helpful books that start with that tidbit and give evidence-based advice are Ross Greene's "The Explosive Child," Jim and Charles Fay's "Love and Logic Magic for Early Childhood," and Alan E. Kazdin's "The Kazdin Method for Parenting the Defiant Child." None of which have worked a miracle in my child's behavior, but they have each, in their own way, helped me to adjust my parenting and lower my stress level as we progress through our new normal. "The Whole-Brain Child" is marketed to the same audience, but has nothing to offer.

So important! I have 6 kids and am assistant director at a Daycare and this is INVALUABLE! Understanding how the brain works from a psychology standpoint in a way that helps anyone to get it is so great. I got the audible version, the hard copy and the workbook and am putting the material together to teach the teachers at our center along with Parent Effectiveness Training and The how to talk series. This is a life changer and It has given me some tools to help some autistic kids in our center as well as understand myself and other adults I know!

I think overall this is a good book, however most of the information (at least for me) was common sense/ information I was already aware of. I was a little disappointed, I would recommend this book if you have never been around children/ totally new to dealing with kids otherwise I think there are better options out there.

This is such an eye-opening book that explains why children act the way that they do, and what is going on in their brains during the process. I have printed out the helpful "Refridgerator sheet" at the end of the book and hung it on my fridge. We view it often to remind ourselves of the most healthy ways to handle and guide our 2-year-old. As a parent who refuses to spank as a form of discipline, this gives me so many other safe, and healthy alternatives. Also, and most importantly, this helps me to understand how her brain works, and why she acts a certain way, or why she is unable to act in other ways. I believe that if I stick to the advice and practices in this book, that my daughter and I will have a stronger and healthier relationship.

Seriously love this book. My daughter is 16 months old and there was a lot of very usually information for a child her age. I wish I had read this when she was first born in order to anticipate changes in her behavior and how to handle them rather than waiting until we realized we had a child that actually needed a little more than food and sleep and cuddles and diaper changes. I can see this being a useful book to revisit every few years as she grows. I learned some about myself and my husband while reading this as well. Very accessible and well written, really can't recommend it enough.

I am still reading the book however I thought iâ€™d write a review since it could be useful for other parents. The book is very easy to read and understand a concepts, I love that it gives real life examples and solutions on how to approach your kids, as a parent of 3 I could relate to quite a few stories in the book. I am happy with the purchase and canâ€™t wait to finish the book and apply the concepts in real life.

This review does not related to the great job that authors made, it is about a failed version of kindle, a technical fact not related with the gyn ob ultrasound knowledge that this book contentsI knew Callen's textbook many years ago in Spanish language, I liked this book very much since then.The evolution of ultrasound knowledge as the equipment is amazing, and this textbook has all of it. The text is so good as can be the language of ultrasound, there is just enough images, however more of them would need 2 volume, in many aspects is too a fetal medicine and gynecology book. To me a very, very good book comparable to Speroff's Endocrinology , Di Saia's Gynecologic Oncology, Gabbe's Obstetrics, Zheng's Ob Gyn, Yen and Jaffe Endocrinology, Te Linde's etc It is basic and advanced Ob Gyn ultrasound, updated, deep enough, not good for those seeking basic and rapid reviews, I believe the targeted professionals are Radiologist, Sonographer and Ob Gyn. Are You one of them? If You own this book You wont regret for sure. I've learned many things with just 20 percent read until now. Almost excellent. 4.5 Stars.
